Seminars devoted to the protection of the victims suffered from high tech crimes were held for the lawyers of Belgorod region on July 02 - 03, 2012
On July 02 – 03, 2012 seminars devoted to the protection of the victims suffered from high-tech crimes were held by the American Bar Association for the lawyers of Belgorod region. It was the first seminar of such subjects to be held on the territory of the Russian Federation. The American Bar Association conducts seminars on the most pressing issues of the legal practice for the lawyers of Belgorod region not for the first time.
From 2005 the Federal Bar has made obligatory decision for the lawyers of Belgorod region to improve their professional skills. Each attorney was bound to take educational courses with duration no less than 72 hours during 5 years. In 2007 the Federal Bar increased the required duration of the educational programs obligatory for each lawyer up to 100 hours during 5 years.
The subjects of the seminar covered such issuies as the notion of high tech crimes, their criminological characteristics, modus operandi, and issues of their classification. The seminar participants worked in small groups and solved complex legal cases on classification of high tech crimes; they studied peculiarities of ensuring rights of high tech crime victims in punitive proceedings and peculiarities of conducting certain investigations. Separate issue of the seminar was devoted to the statistics and problems of the violation in intellectual property legislation for the software.
Lecturers of the leading law schools of our country and top-rank attorneys came to conduct the seminar for the lawyers of Belgorod region: S.P. Kushnirenko, Ph.D. in Law, associate professor in Law of Saint Petersburg State University; E.A. Rubinshtein, attorney at law, member of board of experts of Moscow city Bar Association, associate professor of Criminal Procedure Department of Moscow State Law Academy; E.V. Vallask, Ph.D.in Law, senior lecturer of Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics Department of Saint Petersburg Law Institute (branch) of Academy of Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation; D.A. Levin, attorney, representative of Microsoft Corporation in Volga Federal District.
Representatives of the American Bar Association enjoyed rich cultural program. They visited places of interest of Belgorod city, State Military and Historical Museum “Prokhorovskoye battlefield”), tasted military cookery of World War II in “Blindazh” café, visited “Klyuchi” ethnic village in Prokhorovskiy district where Psyol river originates and viewed little houses with earth floors and real Russian stoves.
The seminar devoted to the protection of the victims suffered from high tech crimes lasted for 2 days. 34 attorneys of Belgorod region participating in the seminar were awarded with commemorative certificates.
